Lessons Learned

Away from death,
I saw life there
And seized it completely,
it was mine-
For quiet death
I did not care
I did not find
the dead divine.
But,
I strove on
in life's good fight
And did not think
of being dead
Still I thought
that I was right
To battle on
in life instead.
I did not praise the Lord,
I was not quiet,
was not good
But I thought
of those who died-
"They said life's good, they understood"
And still,
I know I am alive-
Still I am praising
the young.
having survived you..
Now I swear,
I will survive
The battle which cannot be won.
